Analytics at Wharton and Penn Engineering hosted the fifth annual Women in Data Science (WiDS) Conference, February 8–9. The first night of the event was a guided tour at the Penn Museum, focusing on influential women in history. Attendees explored women’s roles in the evolution of data storytelling. The next day, more than 120 people gathered on the eighth floor of Huntsman Hall for more presentations, networking, and celebrating the achievements of women in data science.

Last year, The Wharton Fund created a meaningful opportunity for women to donate to the School, with its Alumnae Challenge. Neha Shah, W’99, C’99, WG’06, a supporter of the challenge, said this kind of philanthropic effort sends an important message about women making financial decisions for their households. Shah said The Wharton Fund’s support of the School’s programs, such as the Coalition for Equity and Opportunity (CEO) and the McNulty Leadership Program (MLP), emphasizes Wharton’s focus on inclusion — making her proud to be a donor.

McNulty Leadership Program Offers Leadership Compass Certificates

The Anne and John McNulty Leadership Program is providing a chance for students to take a deep dive into the kind of leader they want to be, with the Leadership Compass. Bonnie Li, W’25, gave a glimpse into her experience with the Leadership Compass, powered by donors like you. She said thanks to the program, she learned her distinct style of leadership and what role she plays in teams. Li said with the help of an executive coach, she pinpointed the ways she could improve the strategies she uses to approach challenges. Then, Li said, she applied these skills to her summer internship and the mentorship committee she created.
