The Penn community celebrated Jamie Dinan, W’81, and the newly named Dinan Hall at a ceremonial event this spring. A Penn Trustee and a member of the Wharton Board of Advisors, Dinan cut the ribbon alongside President J. Larry Jameson and Dean Erika H. James, surrounded by fellow Wharton executive board members, Penn trustees, family, and friends.

Of Dinan’s impact, Jameson said, “You walk the walk of our values: open-minded and curious, inventive and practical, and focused on enhancing social good. It’s right that this historic Penn building here in the heart of campus now bears your name.”

Dinan’s generosity enabled a restoration of the building, which houses the McNulty Leadership Program, as well as Wharton’s Business Economics and Public Policy and Real Estate departments, MBA Admissions, and Career Management, among other programs.

James highlighted Dinan’s insightful engagement and lasting friendship: “The Dinan name is a true pride point on campus today and forever in our University’s history.”

Lauder student Justin Koehler, G’25, WG’25, reflects on how the John Tsai Lauder Fellowship Fund opened doors to an unparalleled education and life-changing global experiences through Lauder Intercultural Ventures (LIVs). In a video interview, he shares his gratitude with the donor who made it all possible.

When we asked John Tsai, G’01, WG’01, what drives his giving, he offered a heartfelt response:

“Wharton and Lauder will forever hold a special place in my heart. The meaningful experiences and lasting friendships I formed during my time at Penn left a profound mark on me,” Tsai said. “As a recipient of a Lauder fellowship myself, I have long felt a deep sense of gratitude and a desire to give back to the community that influenced me so deeply.”

The Quaker Commitment Expands Penn’s Pledge to Lower- and Middle-Income Families

Offering guaranteed scholarships for students whose families make $200,000 or less, the Quaker Commitment brings a Penn education within greater reach.
Offering guaranteed scholarships for students whose families make $200,000 or less, the Quaker Commitment brings a Penn education within greater reach.

Earlier this year, the Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania announced a 6.4% increase to the undergraduate financial aid budget across the University for the 2025–2026 academic year. This increase was driven in part by the implementation of the Quaker Commitment, an initiative that guarantees full tuition scholarships for families making $200,000 or less and removes primary home equity from the financial aid assessment process.

“The Quaker Commitment is a bold move that makes a Penn education more financially inclusive for middle- and lower-income families,” said Penn President J. Larry Jameson. Learn more about the Quaker Commitment — and the scale of its impact — at the link below.
