Today, I begin my tenure as Penn’s ninth president. I want to begin by thanking Wendell Pritchett, who led the University superbly as Penn’s Interim President these last four months. I know that our entire community joins me in saying how appreciative and fortunate we are. I also want to recognize and thank Amy Gutmann, whose leadership of Penn over the past 18 years has been nothing short of exceptional. Thanks to Amy’s vision and stewardship, Penn is ready to lead in the future with dynamic faculty, energetic and diverse students, dedicated staff,
and passionate alumni.
