Wharton Impact Tour: Miami 2023

The Wharton Impact Tour made its latest stop in Miami and the city was buzzing!

Dean Erika James caught the energy as she brought to the attention of attendees the advancements Miami is making in tech, enterprise, and diversity developments.

“Miami’s cosmopolitan vibe is amazing,” James said. “Everywhere I look I see and feel art, culture, music, and so much more.“ She added that South Florida’s proximity to Latin America is bringing diversity and creativity to this increasingly global city.

And as entrepreneurs and investors are relocating from traditional tech hubs to emerging startup ecosystems, Miami has suddenly become a tech hot spot.

“We are witnessing Miami lead the country in exponential tech job migration — and tech job growth is running hand-in-hand with creating new entrepreneurial ventures and opportunities,” James said.

And because Miami is also being recognized as a hub for crypto innovation, James was joined in conversation by Professor Kevin Werbach, who is a world-renowned expert on the business, legal, and social implications of emerging technologies. They discussed his research on the important role of regulation in cryptocurrency markets and blockchain.

Be sure to save the date for the next stop of the tour, which is May 12 in Philadelphia.
